What is the connection between Cholesterol, LDL and Inflammation? Cholesterol is basically a repair substance in the body, for example to repair plaque around the blood vessels.

LDL is not cholesterol, Low density lipoprotein is a protein that shuttles cholesterol and triglycerides. LDL is the carrier that transports cholesterol from the liver to the vessels and cells and HDL transports the cholesterol from the arteries back to the liver.

The body makes 3000 mg of cholesterol, on a feedback mechanism basis with your dietary fat intake.
It has lots of functions, some of them also being making cell membranes, Anti-inflammatory properties and helps the body respond to crisis (infection), acting as a band-aid to help in the healing of the endothelium layer.

Inflammation is caused by excess consumption of sugar and polyunsaturated oils, cholesterol is a medium to repair the inflammation, hence when inflammation increases in body, body produces more cholesterol to tend to it. The medicines again create a conflict with the body’s mechanism by lowering the cholesterol.

Hence, for high cholesterol, good fats are not the actual villain, actual villain are the inflammatory foods which we should avoid like:

-Sugar
-Fats+Carb combination of foods
-Polyunsaturated oils (like vegetable oils, refined oils)
-Low quality dairy with chemicals
