Apple cider vinegar is made when you ferment the sugar present in apple juice using certain microbes of yeast and bacteria to convert it to alcohol and then eventually into vinegar which is acetic acid. There are many different types of apple cider vinegar that comes, the best-recommended one is with mother. It’s getting very popular because of some great benefits to the body that it provides:

  1. Digestion: It speeds up digestion and activates the dormant enzymes present in the stomach and pancreas, which ones activated helps the body to break down protein into its amino acids.
  2. Controlling pathogens: Just like you have pickles that are fermented vegetables in acid and that acid helps in preserving them by preventing bacterial growth. Similarly, when you consume an acid in the form of ACV, it lowers the pathogens in the body and prevents SIBO(small intestine bacterial overgrowth). So, if the stomach pH is not strong enough you can actually develop that condition by taking outside vinegar which prevents microbes from thriving in the small intestine.
  3. Absorption of minerals: ACV also helps in absorbing minerals like calcium magnesium, vitamin K, vitamin C, and iron by lowering the Ph in the stomach.
  4. Prevents bloating: ACV speeds up the process of breaking down of food and hence preventing bloating, which usually happens when there is incomplete digestion of food especially protein.
  5. Prevents acid reflux: The normal pH level of hydrochloric acid in the stomach should be between 1–3, and when it is in that range the valve of the stomach remains close to prevent the upthrust of acid in the esophagus, So whenever the ph goes above 3 the valve remains open and the acid can reflux up, this condition is called GERD and usually the medication recommended are antacids, which for a short term makes you feel better but the next time you will eat the situation will get worse since you are making it even less acidic and valve remains open. That’s why people get so dependent on antacids. On the other hand, ACV lowers the ph and helps the valve to be closed, hence improving the symptoms of acid reflux and GERD.
  6. Improves blood sugar level: ACV helps in making the glucose more sensitive hence causing less insulin resistance and thereby less insulin being produced. Reduced insulin can directly cause more weight loss, less cholesterol, and anything that’s related to less insulin.
  7. Probiotic: Having ACV with the mother will give you body the essential probiotics since the mother part has hundreds of strains of good bacteria.

Best way to consume ACV: Take 1-2 teaspoon in a glass of water with lemon and salt, you can also use a straw, that way it will not affect your teeth. They also come in the form of tablets, so if you do not like the taste of it you can use those. Also, there is no particular time to take ACV, you can take it before the meal or after the meal as well.

Caution: It is not recommended to take ACV for people who have a situation of ulcer, gastritis, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
